Coalway Junior School

Year 6, Classes 7 & 8

Welcome to Year 6!

Welcome back to Year 6 with  Mrs Fortet, Ms Ford, Mr Holder and Mrs Lyons. We hope you had a lovely summer break and that you had the opportunity to have some fun! We are excited to be back as we have an exciting year ahead and we hope you enjoy your last year at Coalway Junior School!

This term our focus will be the Industrial revolution! The Victorian period is steeped in History and there is plenty of it in the areas surrounding the school - maybe a walk around the area might help us out!

In English we will be looking at Hansel and Gretal and we will get to grips with number during Mathematics.

Our Indoor and Outdoor P.E day will be on Tuesday and you will continue to get changed into your PE kit in school. You will also be expected to bring in your Reading Journal to be checked on that day too.

Weekly Homework tasks:

These are the things we expect you to do weekly…

Passwords for different sites can be found in Reading Journals.

We will be running a raffle where you will receive a ticket every time you read. Each term you will be in with the chance to win an exciting new book! Remember- the more you read the better the chance of winning!

Year 6 attack adding and subtracting fractions!

YEAR 6 GO FOR A WALK TO DISCOVER OUR LOCAL HISTORY!

WILLIAM MORRIS ART!

The Industrial Revolution

As part of our topic we tried to imagine what it might have been like crawling through the tunnels of a mine. We set up our tables to try to replicate the tunnels
